The Project

STEM Pathways: VR and Beyond

Concinnity spearheads the STEM Pathways: VR and Beyond initiative, an ongoing project dedicated to igniting a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers within multicultural communities. Developed in collaboration with the Toowoomba International and Multicultural Society (TIMS), Queensland Museum Cobb+Co, and the DDSW STEM Hub, this program leverages immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experiences to empower diverse learners and open new career pathways.

Our Process & Solutions

Our approach focuses on delivering highly engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences that resonate with young migrants and refugees. We design and implement a program that utilises VR to go beyond traditional methods, elevating skills and broadening career horizons. Key aspects include:

  • Immersive VR Learning Delivery: In collaboration with Salty Sharks, we develop and deliver compelling VR-based activities that foster deep engagement in STEM subjects.

  • Targeted Skill Development: Participants gain practical skills in 3D design and virtual world creation, directly relevant to emerging STEM career opportunities.

  • Comprehensive Career Exploration: The program educates participants on the diverse range of career opportunities and pathways available within STEM fields, nurturing their ongoing skills through inquiry-based learning.

  • Effectiveness Research: In partnership with TIMS and Cobb+Co Museum, we conduct ongoing research into the transformative effectiveness of VR as an educational tool for diverse learners, aiming to inform future learning approaches.

  • Building Enduring Partnerships: A core focus is on establishing long-term, sustainable collaborations that extend beyond the initial funding cycle, ensuring lasting community benefit.

Key Outcomes
