Volunteering & Employment Pathways
Diversity & Inclusion Solutions
The Project
Volunteering and Employment Pathways (TIMS Volunteer Project)
This vital program, run in collaboration with the Toowoomba International and Multicultural Society (TIMS), supports culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community members. It aims to enhance their understanding of and engagement in volunteering, serving as a crucial stepping stone towards future employment opportunities.
Our Process & Solutions
Our involvement stemmed from recognising a significant knowledge gap around the expectations of volunteering, identified through previous community festivals and direct feedback from TIMS. Our process to bridge this gap includes:
Tailored eLearning Resources: We develop comprehensive eLearning resources specifically designed to explain the nuances and expectations of volunteering in Australia.
Vocabulary & Translation Support: Key terminology is supported by dedicated vocabulary lists and translated content, ensuring clarity and accessibility for CALD participants.
Video Production: We organised video production to create valuable video resources that support both learning within the program and its wider promotion.
Confidence Building: The learning experiences are structured to build confidence in participants, empowering them to actively engage in volunteer roles.
Key Outcomes
The Volunteering and Employment Pathways program delivers clear benefits for CALD community members:
Increased Volunteering Engagement: Participants gain a clear understanding of volunteering expectations, encouraging greater participation in community activities.
Enhanced Confidence: The program effectively builds confidence in participants, preparing them for real-world volunteering experiences.
Pathways to Employment: By clarifying volunteering roles, the initiative serves as a practical pathway, equipping individuals with experience and understanding valuable for future employment.
Cultural & Linguistic Accessibility: Providing translated and simplified resources, including video content, ensures that learning is accessible and impactful for diverse cultural backgrounds.
