Skilling Queenslanders for Work
Diversity & Inclusion Solutions
The Project
Same Sky Different Clouds: Digital Skills for Life
The Same Sky Different Clouds: Digital Skills for Life program, a Skilling Queenslanders for Work project, was proudly funded by the Queensland Government and delivered by TIMS and Concinnity. This inclusive program aimed to empower individuals of all abilities through enhanced digital literacy.
Our Process & Solutions
This wasn't just a basic computer course. Our process began by identifying the everyday digital challenges and aspirations of our diverse participants. We then delivered customised, practical training using familiar tools, including smartphones. The focus was on real-world application, equipping participants with essential skills for tasks like managing online appointments, secure communication, file management, and scam avoidance.
A key part of our solution involved the Murri Garden Project at Cobb+Co Museum. Here, participants applied their new digital skills to contribute to the garden's digitisation, including internet research, Microsoft Office proficiency, digital file management and creating webpages. Notably, Intake 3 researched and proposed a garden extension, supporting a funding application to Queensland Museums.
Key Outcomes
Across three intakes, the program achieved significant outcomes for participants and the community:
Enhanced Digital Literacy: Participants gained practical, applicable digital skills for daily life and work.
Employment & Further Education: Graduates from Intakes 1 and 2 successfully transitioned into online certificate studies and new jobs, demonstrating tangible career progression.
Community Contribution: Through the Murri Garden Project, participants made direct contributions to cultural heritage digitisation and community development.
Inclusive Empowerment: The program successfully provided accessible digital skills training to people of all abilities and diversities, fostering greater independence and connection.
This project exemplified Concinnity's commitment to delivering impactful Diversity & Inclusion Solutions through collaborative, needs-driven learning programmes.
